You should follow the following format for the introductory paragraph of your essay: 1) restate the lens Ex) According to _____, “blah blah blah.” 2) paraphrase it in your own words Ex) In other words, … 3) State if it applies to the two works of literature (fit the TAGs in here) Ex) This applies to … 4)Thesis: How does the statement relate to the two works specifically (Use a literary element here  characters, theme, conflict, etc.) Include a good topic sentence for each body paragraph and sufficient evidence from the text to back up your point. Since you do not have the text in front of you to write the essay, you cannot use quotes. That does not mean that ICE is out the window!! Still state your idea, follow it with specific evidence from the text, and follow that with an explanation for each and every support.
